Our manufacturing partner has been in operation for close to 20 years and is regarded as a pioneer in the high quality cedar dog house industry. They have been responsible for almost every innovation in cat house design during the past 2 decades. All they do is make dog and cat houses and they do it better than anyone, anywhere, period. They proudly boast that your cat house will look better in real life than it does in our pictures! As you can see in the close-up picture of our hybrid dog house on the right, the "fit and finish" of our houses is impeccable. Quality control is of critical importance. Every single cat house panel produced in the plant is individually signed by the technician who assembled it.

Quality Materials

Quality and craftsmanship begin with the choice of only the highest quality materials. While many manufacturers opt for cheaper cuts of wood to reduce costs, our cat houses are made from only the best cuts of western red cedar, which is renowned for its structural integrity, classic look, and most importantly, for its weather resistance and thermal insulation properties. The clear western red cedar walls of all of our cat houses resist warping and splitting so that this will be the only cat house you ever need to buy for your pet. Many of our competitors use plywood, pine or other soft white woods, or inferior grades of cedar. These woods lack the structural integrity of clear western red cedar and are prone to cracking, curling, warping, moisture rot and other damage when subjected to rain and temperature extremes. Even worse, some of our competition uses plastics to build their houses. Plastic is a very poor choice for a dog house as it can emit volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), it lacks appropriate thermal insulation properties (too hot in summer, cold in winter), and it generally degrades and become brittle relatively quickly due to damage from UV light from the sun.

Foundations

The foundations of all of our cat houses are constructed with wolmanized pressure treated lumber which helps resist moisture rot and prevent infestation by insects and rodents. Our competitors' products that allow cedar to come in direct contact with the ground are destined for significant damage from moisture rot and insect damage within just a few short years.

Framing

The frames of our dog and cat houses are constructed with full-sized 2 x 2 dimensional lumber with angle bracing for wind stability and extra strength. Our houses are exceptionally solid - they are built to last. Most of our competitors fail to use full sized framing and most lack any form of bracing for extra strength. More wood and stronger bracing gives our houses much better structural integrity. Our large dog house weighs in at approximately 106 pounds compared to only 70 pounds for our biggest competitor. More weight = more wood = a more durable and longer-lasting cat house.

Small things - but still important...

• We use galvanized ring-shank headed nails to assemble all of our roof panels. Many of our competitors use basic finishing nails which will corrode in the weather and pull out when their inferior wood begins to curl as a result of exposure to the rain, humidity, heat and cold.
• We slope the roof of all of our cat houses, including our duplexes to each side away from the door of the house so that water running off the roof will not drip on your pet!
• The doors on all of our pet houses are offset instead of centered. This ensures that there is a better windbreak and a cooler spot out of the sun for your pet. A door that is centered on the front wall will overexpose your cat to foul weather and direct sunlight, resulting in less comfort for you pet.
• We keep a substantial inventory of cat houses in all configurations available for shipment at all times. Most orders are shipped within 24 hours. Sadly, many of our competitors don't build your cat house until they receive your order, resulting in undue delays in you receiving your product.
